Cadence COO Connie Plowman received the Distinguished Fellow award this week in recognition for her outstanding contribution to the Portland chapter of the Project Management Institute.

For more than a decade, Plowman has worked diligently to help build the profession of project management. With PMI Portland, she has served in a wide range of roles; starting in 2002 as VP Certification, in 2004 she presided as president of the chapter, leading to her position as regional component mentor. Today she is a global leader for the PMI Leadership Institute Advisory Group, who is dedicated to growing the leadership skills in PMI’s volunteer community.

“PMI Portland is an outstanding and dynamic chapter in the global PMI organization,” says Plowman. “I am truly honored to receive such recognition from a group comprised of such quality professionals and volunteer leaders. I look forward to continued service to the organization to spread the importance of project management in our community and beyond.”

“Connie has been a tireless supporter of project management around the world,” says current chapter president Dianne Johnson. “Her effort and involvement helped to drive quality and sustained growth in our chapter, and strengthens our relationship with the broader global PMI community to this day. We’re thrilled to have her as such an active and valuable member of the PMI Portland community.”

Plowman received her award at the PMI Portland monthly chapter dinner meeting June 9, 2009 as part of the 1,400-strong chapter’s “Excellence in Project Management Awards” ceremony.
